  • Air Source and Ground Source Heat pumps are now considered as ‘Permitted Developments’ however some conditions must be met especially if you live in a Listed building or a Conservation area. See the National Planning Portal for more information or call your local planning department.
  • If you do need to apply for planning permission we can help provide drawings and specifications for the equipment and layout.
  • One of the key conditions is that the heat pumps must meet Microgeneration Certification standards.

National Schemes

  • Domestic RHI
  • The Domestic Renewable Heat Incentive (RHI) is a Government financial incentive to encourage homeowners to switch from conventional fossil fuel heating to renewable heating.
    • It is managed by Ofgem and you will need an MCS certificate and
      an EPC in order to apply online to receive a quarterly payment
      based on how much energy your heat pumps generate.
  • Microgeneration Certification
    • Only approved installers can issue an MCS certificate which is needed in order to apply for the RHI.
  • Energy Performance Certificate
    • An EPC will be needed in order to apply for the RHI.
